2024 Ballot Measure Guide

Are you ready to vote on the future of South Dakota on November 5th?

As we approach the upcoming election, we are excited to share the South Dakota Freedom Caucus 2024 Ballot Measure Guide. This resource will help you understand the measures that align with our conservative values.

Vote NO on Constitutional Amendment E, Gender-Neutral Constitutional Language Amendment: this amendment seeks to remove gendered pronouns from our state constitution, which currently includes generic male pronouns when referencing officeholders such as the governor. Vote NO on Amendment E to maintain the integrity of our constitution

Vote YES on Constitutional Amendment F, Medicaid Work Requirement Amendment: this amendment is a step towards promoting personal responsibility and ensuring that our resources are allocated effectively. By supporting this measure, we can help foster a culture of work and self-sufficiency for the able-bodied.

Vote NO on Constitutional Amendment G, Right to Abortion Initiative: Abortion should NOT be in our Constitution! This amendment is TOO EXTREME for South Dakota! We stand strong against abortion in our state and this extreme measure being proposed. This amendment seeks to legalize late term abortions including up until birth, strips away crucial safety regulations that protect mothers, and removes parental rights for parents of children who may undergo these procedures. This is NOT the kind of policy we want for our state! Let’s protect our families by rejecting this radical initiative.

Vote NO on Constitutional Amendment H, Top-Two Primary Elections Initiative: this is a dangerous amendment to put in our Constitution. It is crucial to understand the implications of the top-two primary system that states like California and Washington have adopted. This system allows all candidates, regardless of party affiliation, to compete in a single primary election. The two candidates with the most votes then advance to the general election, which can undermine our conservative values. This is concerning because this measure would dilute party identity, eliminate our choices, and potentially increase influence of extremists with agendas that don’t support our values. Let’s advocate for an electoral process that truly represents our beliefs and maintains our freedom to choose by voting NO on this measure.

Vote NO on Referred Law 21, Regulation of Carbon Dioxide Pipelines Referendum: the so-called “Landowners Bill of Rights.” This referendum is far from what its supporters claim and poses a real threat to South Dakota landowners. The recent issues surrounding the Summit Carbon Solutions pipeline have shown us the dangers of eminent domain, and the fight to protect our land isn’t over yet. The misleading referendum would eliminate local control, putting decisions in the hands of the Public Utilities Commission. It sets a dangerous precedent that allows out-of-state and foreign-backed companies, such as Summit Carbon Solutions, to operate with fewer restrictions, making it easier to invade our land and burden taxpayers with the cost. Don’t be fooled by the name–this measure does NOT protect landowners! We must ensure that South Dakota’s farmers and landowners are not left defenseless against aggressive pipeline developments. Vote NO on Referred Law 21, don’t leave South Dakota defenseless!
