Was Gov Noem’s Chief of Communications, Ian Fury, demoted? Looks like it!

So, it seems we have a demotion in Governor Noem’s office.

Did Ian Fury receive a demotion over Gov Noem’s disaster of a book?

Sure looks plausible.

Back in March 2022 we were notified that Ian Fury was promoted to “Chief of Communications.”

On May 8, 2024 Democrats called for the removal of Ian Fury…. “Leaders of the South Dakota Democratic Party are calling for the removal of Governor Kristi Noem’s Chief of Communications, Ian Fury, due to what they call “an utter failure in doing the basics of a public relations job.”

“At a time when Gov. Noem once again lacks a chief of staff, action must be made to hold individuals accountable for what can only be described as an utter failure in doing the basics of a public relations job. Fury should not have allowed the publication of the Governor’s recent book without proper fact-checking and review.” South Dakota Democratic Party Chair Shane Merrill and Vice Chair Jessica Meyers

Here, the Dem Party Chair identifies Fury’s salary at $144K per year.  On July 1, 2024 that salary would have gone up due to State employee pay raise.

Today, this is Fury’s pay at $142K and his current bio on the Governor’s website is listed as “Director of Communications.”

A review of Gov Noem’s website via the Way Back Machine shows a change in Fury’s title sometime between July 23 and August 14.

Oh to have been a fly on the wall when that all unfolded. Noem was touted among the establishment as our next VP.  Some grassroots think it was controlled demolition of her character on the national stage because Trump was never going to pick her. Whatever the case, looks like Fury may have been the sacrificial lamb, at least not subjected to the same demise as Cricket!
