HOT TAKE: PMBs…It’s a statewide conspiracy to defraud the people and it needs to come to an end.
@SDCanvass full statement below. The truth of the matter is that they are right. They are right about this issue and the group, led by Jessican Pollema, will be proven right about other election related matters they have been fighting for years to bring to light and get our legislators to act!
Becoming a resident of South Dakota is easy. Some say too easy
All you have to do to become a South Dakota resident is spend one night.
Stay in a campground or hotel and then stop by one of the businesses that specialize in helping people become South Dakotans, and they’ll help you do the paperwork to gain residency in a state with no income tax and relatively cheap vehicle registration.
The system brings in extra government revenue through vehicle fees and offers refuge to full-time travelers who wouldn’t otherwise have a permanent address or a place to vote.
South Dakota among easiest states to become a resident
People can become a South Dakota resident by staying in the state for at least one night and setting up a mailbox. Companies like Spearfish’s South Dakota Residency Center help people through the process.
As South Dakota Residency Center President Dane Goetz explained, one would need to commit perjury to become a South Dakota resident while still holding a permanent address elsewhere.
“One of the things that they’re required to sign is a residency affidavit, which essentially is saying they are becoming South Dakota residents and are not a resident of any other state,” Goetz said.

The correct answer to this problem is: The legal voter registration process according to Federal Law allows a bona fide permanent resident of SD to leave SD to travel, such as retired former long time SD residents. They cannot lose their voter registration status for leaving to travel. However, leaving to travel assumes the voter previously had a permanent residence in South Dakota.
The fact is, about 1 in 500, or less, of these PMB or PO Box voters actually meet the requirements of the state and federal law in registering to vote. On top of that, the voter is only allowed to vote in the precinct in which he previously resided, not anywhere in the state. Nowhere in Federal or State law does it allow for people to select South Dakota as their residence because they want to avoid income taxes where they actually reside, pay a lower vehicle registration rate, or lower insurance.
Those legally responsible for allowing massive fraud through the state include the Secretaries of State, Attorney General’s office, States Attorneys for advising the auditors to allow fraud in exchange for revenue, and the auditors themselves for violating their oaths and allowing perjury and fraud into their county wide voter rolls that they are charged by law with securing. It is a statewide conspiracy to defraud the people and it needs to come to an end.
