Via Rep Logan Manhart – Despite the setbacks we’ve seen in many states regarding bitcoin legislation, I am committed to furthering this conversation over the next year. I am not a rich man and I stand to gain little from the mass adoption of Bitcoin. However, our state, country, and citizens stand to gain a great deal. I want nothing but prosperity for South Dakota and the United States.
Via Jason Lowery – Lawmakers see the Strategic Bitcoin Stockpile as too speculative because they view Bitcoin solely through the lens of “Digital Gold” computer science theory. If they understood the concepts of “Digital Power” or “Digital Matter” theory, I’m confident they would see it differently. The question becomes, how long will it take them to understand these concepts and will it be too late? If China/Russia figures this out before US, it’ll be strategically devastating to the US.
Via Dennis Porter – BIG BREAKING: ‘Strategic Bitcoin Reserve’ passes out of committee in Oklahoma with a vote count of 12-2.
Time, and quite honestly what President Trump chooses to do with BITCOIN, will tell if South Dakota finds the will to get on board.
For any newbies this is a pretty simple explanation:
Bitcoin is a digital form of money that exists purely online and isn’t controlled by banks or governments. Think of it like cash for the internet—people can send it directly to each other without a middleman. It’s created and tracked through a system called blockchain, which is like a public, tamper-proof ledger everyone can see but no one can change without agreement from the network.
Skeptics might worry it’s fake or a scam because it’s not physical, but it’s backed by math and cryptography, not trust in a central authority. Its value comes from people agreeing it’s worth something, like gold or dollars, and it’s limited in supply—only 21 million bitcoins will ever exist, unlike regular money that governments can print endlessly. It’s not perfect: prices swing wildly, and it’s been tied to shady stuff online…but YOUR dollar is losing value and DOGE has shown it is being laundered. But for fans, BITCOIN is a way to take power back from big institutions. Start small, treat it like a risky bet, and see if it clicks.
