“America is back!” – President Donald J. Trump, 4 March 2025
President Trump electrified a joint session of Congress, the nation, and the world with a masterful speech on Tuesday night that summarized what his administration has accomplished in just six weeks while projecting the way-ahead for moving the country to new heights of greatness, prosperity, and security over the next four years.
The highlights were many: US-Mexico border crossings down 94% (without the need for new legislation that Biden demanded!), DOGE uncovering massive waste and fraud, federal government downsizing well underway, deportations of illegal alien criminals in full swing, domestic energy production unleashed, reciprocal to rebalance foreign trade, and a minerals exploitation deal with Ukraine. GENERAL RECEPTION OF THE SPEECH
Here were a few quotes made afterwards that captured the sentiments of many who watched the speech:
Speaker Mike Johnson: “Tonight, President Trump made his triumphant return to Congress to share his bold, optimistic vision for renewing the American Dream.”
Sen. Ted Cruz: “This is the fifth State of the Union address I’ve seen Trump give — it was by far his best.”
Fox News’s Brit Hume: “If you ever doubted that Donald Trump is the political colossus of our time and our nation, this night and this speech should have put that to rest.”
CNN’s Chris Cillizza: “That was a very effective speech. You can hate it or him. But that speech was aimed squarely at issues where the public is with Trump — and filled with made-for-sharing moments. A master image-maker at work (and you can hate him and acknowledge that’s true!)”
Pennsylvania resident: “I thought it was very positive… We used to be a country that would just let everything happen… I think now, we’re taking back things that should’ve never been given away. So, I think doing those tariffs… it’s well overdue.”
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna: “Tonight was historic. President Trump said he was saved by God to Make America Great Again- and THAT is our mandate.”
Rep. Nancy Mace: “Best speech ever.”
Rep. Ben Cline: “President Trump just delivered a bold, positive vision to secure our border, revive our economy, and restore American strength. Leadership is back, our enemies are on notice, and we’re making America great again.”
Most Americans who watched the speech overwhelmingly agreed with those sentiments. Here is a quote from the Daily Caller News Foundation’s editor-at-large from his daily email on 6 March:
CBS’s polling showed 76% of watchers approved of what they heard. In the same poll, 63% said he spoke about issues they care about “a lot.” Margins of 74, 71, and 62%, using one word to describe the speech, said “entertaining,” “inspiring” and “unifying,” respectively.
CNN’s snap poll of viewers showed 69% of people viewed the speech as “very positive” or “somewhat positive.”
RECOGNITION DURING THE SPEECH
The president’s recognition of various people during his speech was particularly poignant. While all presidents generally do that, it is important to note that, while Biden and other Democrats routinely use people as props during similar speeches, President Trump actually did something for every person called out during his speech. And every single one of them mouthed a heart-felt “thank you” as they were recognized and applauded; they weren’t political props:
President Trump honored the legacies of 22-year-old Laken Riley (calling out Allyson and Lauren Phillips, her mother and sister) and 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray (calling out Alexis Nungaray, her mother), two victims murdered at the hands of illegal immigrants during the Biden regime. His first act signed as president was the Laken Riley Act (which requires the detention of unauthorized immigrants accused of theft and violent crimes), and he signed an EO just before the speech that renamed the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge in Texas after Jocelyn Nungaray to commemorate her love of animals and wildlife.
He recognized Marc Fogel and his mother, Malphine. Fogel was released from Russia last month (Biden had failed to secure his release).
He recognized January Littlejohn, who sued a Florida school board alleging officials “socially transitioned her daughter to a different sexual identity without January and her husband’s knowledge or permission,” and Elliston Berry, a 15-year-old who was the victim of deepfake images, and Peyton McNabb, a high school athlete who suffered brain damage after competing against a transgender-identifying male. The president and are working to enact legislation that would criminalize deepfakes and revenge porn. He also took executive actions to ban transgender athletes from women’s sports and to restrict access to child mutilation (what the Democrats call “gender-affirming care”).
A particularly emotional moment was when he recognized DJ Daniel, a 13-year-old boy battling brain cancer, who was awarded an honorary appointment to the US Secret Service and received a hug from USSS Director Sean Curran as he received his credentials. Perhaps an even better moment was when DJ hugged Jason Hartley, a high school senior from Whittier, CA, whom the president had just informed was accepted to West Point.
Among others, he also recognized Border Patrol agent Roberto Ortiz who was shot at by suspected Mexican cartel operatives along the border. The president revealed that Ortiz heroically shielded his partner during the attack and was commended for his actions.
THE DEMOCRAT RECEPTION AND RESPONSE
The Democrats covered themselves in ignominy and shame before, during, and after the speech. Some of them turned their backs to the president as he arrived, others stood up and exited before he began his speech, others left during the speech, most had childish bingo signs that they raised throughout the speech, one was escorted out for violating the rules of decorum, and all sat on their hands and refused to clap for ANY of the pro-America points made during the speech, including the recognition of the people noted above.
Democrat women wore pink as some kind of expression of feminist solidarity and protest, yet every Democrat senator just the day before voted AGAINST the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, which would keep biological males from competing in women’s and girls’ sports. So much for “feminism” and the illogic of Democrat women!
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt commented afterwards:
The behavior of Democrats last night was completely disgraceful and demonstrated how severely how out of touch they are with the American public,” Leavitt said. “It was the most shameful moment in the history of presidential addresses in that beautiful chamber. And what was supposed to be a unifying moment for our country, Democrat members of Congress instead screamed at the president of the United States, who was just overwhelmingly reelected by their constituents, walked out of the chamber and worst of all, they disrespected the American people. Democrats didn’t stand to keep men out of women’s sports, they couldn’t even clap for a girl who got her head smashed in by a man on a volleyball court. Democrats didn’t stand for an innocent and beautiful child who is surviving brain cancer.
They opposed eliminating taxes on tips and social security. They didn’t stand for cutting taxes of hardworking Americans, they couldn’t even clap for two mothers whose daughters were killed by illegal aliens. One of the only things that could get Democrats off their feet last night was cheering for Ukraine, not for America.
Even more evil was MSNBC’s Nicole Wallace who commented afterward about the 13-year-old cancer survivor who became an honorary Secret Service agent during the speech:
I hope he never has to defend the United States Capitol against Donald Trump’s supporters, and if he does, I hope he isn’t one of the six who loses his life to suicide, and I hope he isn’t one who has to testify against the people who carried out acts of seditious conspiracy and then lived to see Donald Trump pardon those people.
CONCLUDING THOUGHTS
Finally, contrast the president’s uplifting speech with the litany of lies delivered by freshman Democrat Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-MI). Slotkin won in a late-night surge of votes counted on Election Day night (a familiar Democrat refrain in the era of mail-in ballots and election fraud) and magically got more votes than Kamala Harris (a down ballot candidate almost NEVER gets more votes than the top of the ticket). Slotkin actually bragged about being a former CIA analyst, but she somehow didn’t brag about her disgraceful endorsement of LGBTQI grooming of kids captured here by Libs of TikTok.
Some of her blatant lies:
“President Trump is trying to deliver an unprecedented giveaway to his billionaire friends.” (Note: the tax cuts will benefit EVERYONE just as they did during Trump 1.0.)
“In order to pay for his plan, he could very well come after your retirement – the Social Security, Medicare, and VA benefits you worked your whole life to earn.” (The same old saw we’ve heard from Democrats since the Reagan era.)
“After the spectacle that just took place in the Oval Office last week [with Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy], Reagan must be rolling over in his grave.” (Thanks to a pre-meeting meeting with Democrats, Zelenskyy sabotaged the meeting; people watched it happen with their own eyes!)
“Donald Trump’s actions suggest that, in his heart, he doesn’t believe we are an exceptional nation. He clearly doesn’t think we should lead the world.” (The most ridiculous lie of all! Has she not every watched a Trump campaign speech or even his Tuesday night speech – or ever heard of MAGA?)
“But it’s also at risk when the President pits Americans against each other, when he demonizes those who are different, and tells certain people they shouldn’t be included.” (This is sheer projection and what the Democrats have been doing since the Obama era. Trump’s America First coalition cuts across all demographic and racial groups.)
She made no Democrat proposals whatsoever during her speech! That’s because the American people rejected the Democrats’ authoritarian crap of the last four Biden years, and they have nothing different to offer than the platitudes on which Kamala Harris campaigned. Literally everything she said was flavored by her Trump Derangement Syndrome and resistance to anything that President Trump has done and proposed to do to improve the prosperity and security for ALL Americans.
And Slotkin is supposedly a bright light and an “up-and-comer” among freshmen Democrats in the US Senate? If she’s the best they’ve got, then Republicans everywhere are rubbing their hands with glee.
Me, too, because the Democrats are running on empty!
The end.
